2 Corinthians 1:3
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort.”
Have you ever had one of those weeks where you feel like you are doggie-paddling your way to the end?
Once you finally get there – boom something else comes up!
It is crazy how life can change week by week…day by day…minute by minute.
Strangely, even though this week has been crazy and chaotic; full of ups and downs…I have truly been blessed by it. Multiple times God has used little moments and big moments; calm moments and crazy moments to really teach me and often change my perspective on things.
One thing that has been a trending point this week is that I am a CHILD of God. Many of my post have stated this, alluded to it or been all about it! God has really emphasized to me that I am his child and he is my dad!
This week, I have been taken out of my comfort zone multiple times:
My son was sick and had to go to the ER; 3 days later he was pushing buttons and testing limits to no end! The good news is he is now totally healthy and I still have most of my hair and only a bit of my sanity escaped! 🙂
Yesterday, I found out that one of the members of my husband’s company had her baby! I was so happy for her; it was a beautiful baby boy!
Sadly, I found out today that another member of his company was killed last night in a car accident…no fault of his own. He was only 27-years-old well liked and well respected! A sad loss for many!
It is just crazy how one minute you are concerned for your child’s health; then the next you are wishing he could go to Grandma and Grandpa’s house so you can save your own mental health! One minute you are joyful and celebrating the arrival of a new life; shortly after you are mourning the loss of another.
It like Forrest Gump said – “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.”
We don’t ever know what is going to happen each week…we don’t even know about the next minute! We do know though that God is our constant and never ending comforter! He is the only factor that will stay there, be there and never leave!
I have learned this week that being uncomfortable is good! When you are uncomfortable and jolted around you have to lean on God.
Like children, when we have trouble, confusion or discomfort…we turn to our ultimate parent! We, like children, have faith that he will always be there to help us and guide us through our troubles.
Often, people portray God as “the man upstairs”, “the big guy in the sky”, “the ultimate man of judgment”, “the god that let this or that happen” or “the soft-cuddly God that would never let someone suffer”.
Well, God is many things…Ultimately, he is our Father! He will correct us and convict us; challenge us and comfort us! He will teach us and guide us through this life. We have to allow ourselves to confront discomfort and approach it as a challenge, a learning experience and a chance to fully rely on God.
When we are comfortable we are often not learning, growing or developing!
When God “changes things up” on you, hold onto his hand a little tighter and he will carry you through!
Smile and know that he is working on something and this is part of what is required to get you there!
