Hebrews 4: 9-13 New Living Translation (NLT)

So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. 10 For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. 11 So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.

12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

Have you ever felt vulnerable when someone has spoken to you about God?

Maybe, you dismiss it as “uncomfortable” because you just get an odd uneasy feeling.

Many would pass this feeling off as weird or maybe strange – feelings often associated with religion and God in general by some. The truth is, this “feeling” is not actually weird or strange at all…it is God trying to break through the walls we have built around our hearts; so that he can offer us peace and rest, like we have never known.

Satan will tell you, you are not enough! He will tell you that you are weak and undeserving. Maybe you feel like your past has determined your future…you messed up then, so now you are “un-fixable”.

These are all legitimate feelings, the thing is though, they are not legitimate feelings from God. They are feelings Satan has placed in you, to make you feel unworthy of God’s love.

God LOVES you! He does! No matter how hard Satan tries, or how much he scribbles on your picture of life; God LOVES you and that has never and will never change! It won’t! No matter what you have done, not done, said or not said…God will love you today as he has since your life began (even before)!

Often when God or “religion” feel threatening to us, it is because we are afraid of being vulnerable. The idea of something “knowing” us completely and honestly is intimidating. We feel exposed…and that is uncomfortable! We are imperfect and we know our flaws and sometimes we like to keep them (our flaws) to ourselves.

Well, please believe me when I say God already knows! He does, he knows every single wrong that you have done! He knows every “blemish” on your record! He knows your ugly and your bad, all the way from your actions – down to your inner thoughts. He knows…there is nothing that you could reveal to him that he doesn’t all ready know.

Do you want to know what he thinks about your ugly and your bad?

He doesn’t ‘think’, he knows he can take your ugly and your bad and turn it into good! He knows your downfalls, but he also knows your amazing and awesome potential! He doesn’t hold onto your bad, once you give it to him…he only sees it as the good he will turn it into.

So often we label ourselves as “unworthy” or “too broken”. People Often say “Ha…God wouldn’t want me”! Well, he does and he is waiting patiently for you to want him!

You do not have to have a clean past or good record to be desired by God. He created you, he knows more about you than you know about yourself. He knows your past, your present and your future! He designed you and put you here on this earth for a purpose!

You have a purpose!

Your purpose is unique and special and is different from anyone else, you know why?

YOU are different and unique compared to everyone else.

Your past, your mistakes, your flaws…those aren’t “you”, but they are things that have happened that have allowed you to get to where you are, in this moment.

Maybe you feel broken, confused or alone. Maybe, you are happy and life is going well, but something feels like it is missing.

God is the biggest piece of our puzzle and he is also the piece that can hold the whole thing together!

If you feel like you have something you are ashamed of, or want to keep hidden inside…know that he already knows, you can’t hide something from the one that created you. He knows and he wants you to know…its OK, he forgives and forgets!

When you give something to Christ and ask him for forgiveness…he forgives and forgets! We are the ones who will hold onto it and let it beat us up over and over again.

Nothing is too “bad” for God…!

Give him a chance, allow yourself to let your walls down and let God step in.

No one is better than you!

To God you are beautiful, amazing and so so worth it! He LOVES YOU- your good, your bad, your ugly and your pretty! YOU!

He wants you to be at peace! God wants to offer you rest and peace like no other can! You don’t have to “earn” it…he wants to GIVE it to you! He is just waiting for you!
