Is he knocking…

Have you ever been at a point when you question what God is doing in your life?  You think that he wants you to do something, but then you question whether it is really him or just you “thinking” it is him.

I am currently experiencing this now, in my life.  Today I happen to be in my car (I ran out of coffee and that is bad! So I had to go get some) and while driving I heard this message:

If God ask you to do something, he is asking you to do it.  God isn’t asking you a question, or looking for information…he is asking you to do something.  He will not ask you to do something you can not do.  He created you and gave you your gifts and abilities. He knows very well what you are capable of. We struggle not because we under-estimate our own abilities and power, but we underestimate Gods! I am not 100% sure, but I believe it was Chuck Swindoll who was giving the message.

Well, I am certain that I hold the record of how many times God has had to politely bop me in the face with his hand! As I have said before, I am STUBBORN and he sometimes has to be pretty direct with me. So this, yet again, was one of those times.

I loved this message though because it was so true.  God created us!  He knows every cell in your body, every hair on your head…He knows more about you than YOU do!  Yet we question him when he gives us a job or a task.  We ask him “are you sure God?”  “Do you really mean you want me to do…”?  “Maybe it would be better if I…”?  Seriously?  We are questioning God? The creator of all things and we think that maybe he is wrong!  Yup, we are human all right :-).

The message also says we do not struggle because we under-estimate our own abilities and power. We struggle because we underestimate God’s.  This is so true.  When God tells us to do something we very likely cannot do it through our own humanly powers.  That is part of what is amazing about it.  God gives us the power, his power, through him!  So we are right, we can’t do it on our own, but we can with God.

I couldn’t help but think…How many “requests” does God have out there right now, with different people?  How many of us has he asked to do something, but we are not doing it because we are not certain we can?  I am sure there are a LOT!

Jesus talks in Matthew, and many other books, about the end times.  Matthew 24:30-31 (NIV) says:

30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the Peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

Matthew 24:37-39(NIV) says:

37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

This post is not to say that the end is far or near, but more so to make us think.  The end will come abruptly, not even the angels nor the Son know of its time.  We as the followers of Christ have a lot to do.  Our time here on earth as we know it is temporary.  Our eternity awaits us in heaven.  Has God been pressing something onto your heart to do?  Has he been asking you to do something to help him build his kingdom?  Are you doing it, or are you waiting/questioning his mission for you?

We are all God’s disciples, it is our mission to spread the word of God throughout the land.  If we are silent…how will it get out?    This verse from above really spoke to me:

30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the Peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.

And then all of the Peoples of the earth will MOURN when they see the Son of Man coming…!  Why will they mourn?  They will realize at this time that everything they have mocked or chosen not to believe is true.  They will realize they made the wrong choice.  All of the treasures they worked so hard for, here on earth, will be gone and their eternal fate has been sealed.  They will see that God is real, that he does exist and that choosing the worldly way was wrong. At this time, they will no longer be able to be saved.

This personally breaks my heart.  What if God’s challenge to you has been to talk to your Co-worker or friend about him?  What if he is wanting to use you in some way to SAVE others?  If we ignore him, or avoid his whispers to us…how are these people going to be reached?

Your mission may seem big, or impossible.  It may take you out of your comfort zone and I will almost guarantee you it will be hard!  I promise you though…it will be worth it!  Let go of your fears and your humanly inhibitions and allow yourself to fully rely on God.  Give him the driver’s seat and let him take you on the most amazing journey! Allow him to provide you with the strength and power that you could never provide yourself. Just imagine when you do get to heaven.  What would make you happier than seeing someone else there in heaven because of something you allowed god to achieve through you.

God is mighty and God loves so much!  If you are blessed enough to know this love…Share it,Give it!  It is a gift that will never end and literally a gift of salvation!
